Our chapter is a diverse group of women, all with one common thread - golf. And within that thread, we include all types of golfers from beginners to single digit handicappers. That's a big task to meet all those needs, but I think we are doing exactly that. Check out the rest of this website and you will find programs and events for beginning golfers, events for competitive golfers, and then some purely social gatherings. You will find something that suits your game and where you want it to go.

Guess what? Once you start participating, you will find an extra benefit with the Fort Worth chapter - friendship. Sometimes friendships are made when you least expect it. That happens all the time in this chapter. So don't delay anymore. Come on down and join in the fun of being a member of the Fort Worth EWGA.

Mary Ann Lutz, President

We need to remember the generosity of our sponsors whose sponsorship helps keep our Ft. Worth EWGA Chapter going. Our biggest sponsor this year is USMD Hospitals (Fort Worth and Arlington).

NEWS

Fort Worth EWGA has a new Club Champion! Susan Van Riper shot an 86 in Chapter Championship to claim the overall championship for our chapter.

The weather wasn't as hot as it could have been, but the wind was just about as problematic when our Chapter Championship was held Saturday, June 12, at Champion's Circle. Terri Baze did a wonderful job (as usual) in having everything set up and running smoothly. The results are:

Championship Flight: Paweena Bennet - low gross; Julie Piland - low net

First Flight: Susan Van Riper - low gross; Janet Case - low net

Second Flight: Debra Machos - low gross; Marilyn Weiss - low net

Third Flight: Bren Clevenger-Ori - low gross: Mary Ann Beldeszek - low net

Fourth Flight: Cheryl McCally - low gross

Scramble Team Winners: Tara Dubose, Cindy Campbell, Ann Wright, Marjorie Stanfield

Congratulations to all the winners, who will advance to the EWGA semi-finals July 24 at Bridlewood.

Pictures will be posted soon, so check back!

Our next chapter event is our "Family Golf Month" member/guest event at Iron Horse on July 10. Bring a family member, partner, or friend. Register and pay online by July 1 to be entered in a drawing for free golf!

July 4 is the deadline for registering for our joint event with the Dallas EWGA at Cowboys, which will be held July 18. Register through the Dallas website: www.dallasewga.com. July 18 is also the day we will be drawing the winner for our Stay & Play package at Barton Creek raffle. If you haven't yet bought your raffle tickets, please contact marjoriestanfield@sbcglobal.net to do so!

Lone Star Cup is just around the corner. The final two qualifying events are scheduled and the team will be named by July 1st. Good luck to all who are trying out!

SLOW PLAY! Unacceptable! We do not want to be categorized as "those slow women". No one likes to feel rushed, but as we play at private clubs and move on into Chapter Championship, we have to be mindful of our pace. If we have an opportunity to play at a private club, and their members are slowed down by us, you can bet we won't be invited back. In many competitions, penalty strokes are actually assessed after slow play warnings. Form good habits, and this won't be a factor. Click on the Education tab above for some tips on keeping a good pace.

ABOUT US

EWGA Fort Worth/Metroplex Chapter has approximately 100 members who live and work in Fort Worth, Arlington, Mid-Cities, and surrounding communities. Our all-volunteer board works hard to ensure we are providing our members with a great golfing experience through the leagues, events, and education opportunities offered. Whether you're a new golfer looking for a welcoming environment to properly learn the game, or an experienced golfer seeking the challenge of competition, we offer events and activities to meet your needs.

Our Chapter organizes a variety of events, clinics, and socials each year, where the focus is always on fun. Activities include new golfer clinics, league play, monthly golf events, chapter championship, networking functions, member-guest events, charity tournaments and, of course, the infamous Lone Star Cup!

With almost half of our members in key management positions, you'll also find an ideal environment for networking with other businesswomen in a friendly atmosphere.

Whether you're looking for an occasional round of informal golf, or a chance to play regularly with other avid golfers, the Executive Women's Golf Association provides those opportunities. We invite you to join us to have fun, network and help support us as we bring a new level of dignity and respect to women's golf.
