FRIENDSHIP GOLF: FUN PLAY 9 HOLES

Date: Tuesday June 25th, 2013
Location: Texas Star Golf Course
Time: Tee times starting at 6:00 pm and moving backwards.

Deadline for registration is the Sunday before the Tuesday of the golf day.
Meet at the club house afterwards to grab a bite to eat.

HANDICAPS

The purpose of the USGA Handicap System is to make the game of golf more enjoyable by enabling players of differing abilities to compete on an equitable basis.

Having a handicap index allows golfers to participate in more events (those that require a handicap index), have a measurable means of tracking improvement, and allows score adjustments to even the playing field when playing with golfers of different skill levels.

THE EWGA CHALLENGE
Congratulations to Kelley Wasicek, from EWGA Pittsburgh, for winning the EWGA Challenge PT I. Kelley was the lone predictor of Justin Rose becoming the U.S. Open Championship. Stay tuned for next week when Part II of the challenge begins with the U.S. Women's Open at Sebonack Golf Club in Southampton, NY.

FRIENDSHIP GOLF

Friendship golf is a great way to make new friends, play golf and meet to grab a bite to eat and enjoy each others company. We will be playing 9 holes of golf at a different course every 4-6 weeks beginning in April.   

Here are our Friendship Golf schedule:

  • April 30 through June 4 @ Ditto Golf Course
  • June 11 through July 16 @ Texas Star Golf Course
  • July 23 through August 27 @ Waterchase Golf Club
  • September 3 through October 10 @ Lake Arlington Golf Course

Mark your calendars.  We will be playing each Tuesday afternoon with tee times beginning at 6:00 pm and going backward for however many foursomes we have.  There will be a "closest to the pin" contest each week.  After playing a great game of 9 holes of golf, we will gather for dinner, drinks, and conversation--restaurant name and location will be provided.

You will need to register online at the Fort Worth EWGA website for each week you wish to play--course, cost, and address will be available during registration.  I encourage each of you to let others know that you will be attending--in other words, please do not uncheck the privacy box when you register.  Cutoff for registration will be midnight Sunday prior to each Tuesday we play.  I am required to give number of players to the golf courses on Monday before our play on Tuesday afternoon.

2013 Chapter Championship
Eleven Stroke players and eight scramble players participated in the 2013 Fort Worth Chapter Championship Tournament at Fossil Creek Golf Club in Fort Worth. Congratulations to our winners! Our 2013 Chapter Champion is Julie Piland. Way to go Julie!

Both teams will be advancing to Regional’s.
   
Champions Circle event was a lot of fun!
Adena Wallace did a video lesson for everyone!
The rain came and most of us came in for some good conversation.
Some decided to go back out and finish more holes! 
Overall the event was a success.
Champions Circle kindly gave us each a 9 hole rain check.

The Fort Worth Kick-Off held at Trophy Club was a huge success. Everyone enjoyed, a great brunch, played golf ,and had lots of fun, laughs and good conversation. 
Diana Gatts from the Dallas Chapter spoke about the LPGA coming to Las Colinas in April and the exciting events this tournament will bring. EWGA members can participate in the week long events and entry is free as part of your membership.
Emily Nelson our National Sponsor from Golf Galaxy came to the event. Emily is very excited to work with us and the chapter is planning an event at the new Golf Galaxy store in Grapevine. Please watch the website for date and time.  
The Fort Worth chapter  has some great socials and events planned for 2013.
